"The past three summers I have had the opportunity to play for Swoosh. The things I've learned from this organization and its coaches is immeasurable. On the court they taught me how to be a leader, how to work with others, what a good work ethic looks like, and how to create opportunities for myself. With the help of Ron Hopkins and the rest of the Swoosh organization, I was able to achieve a dream of mine playing college basketball. Not only has Swoosh allowed me to play basketball at a high level, but it also is the reason I was able to receive a basketball scholarship to put towards my education. Off the court, Swoosh taught me how to be a better person and how to put others first. It taught me that if I did that, my efforts would be rewarded. Because of the countless hours that Swoosh put in to make me a better player and person, it is a new dream of mine to return to the organization as a coach to pay back those hours and to help kids that started basketball for the love of it, just as I did, mature into players and people capable of working towards a goal and creating the future they want. The memories and friendships I've made from Swoosh are ones that will last a lifetime. I owe so much to Swoosh and Ron for helping me become who I am today and helping me get to the great stage I am in in my life."

Dear Ron:

I just wanted to let you know that the three teams that you worked with at St. Joseph School all won their league banners this week! You should be so proud! We have not had a basketball banner at our school since 1997.

The Junior boys won their league tournament last Saturday, and the Senior Girls and our boys won last night. The Junior boys and Senior girls played Hilltop in the final, and we played Drayton Valley (Frank Maddock) to take the banner. We are so proud of our boys!

We go to the zone finals this weekend in Redwater, and we are ranked second. I believe we are going in with a good attitude. Last night, however, Cam Oxner landed funny and did something to his shins (no broken bones), so our chances are quite a bit slimmer at this point. We have had a tremendous season!

I will make sure that your camp information gets circulated next week. When all of the commotion is over everyone can make better decisions.

Hope all went well with your NAIT girls' season.

Take care,  Carmen

Congratulations to Torey Hill!

This summer Torey joined Net-Works' Summer Basketball Travel Team and what a great experience it was for her. The team went to Las Vegas to participate in two tournaments. We may not have won the first place trophy, but Torey came out with a first place prize. While down there several College and University Scouts noticed Torey. She is set to play in a Division 1 University of Southern Utah! Torey has recieved a FULL RIDE Scholarship and we could not be more excited for her.

Here is a testimonial from her proud parents:

Good day Ron,
It has been a whirl wind of a week....who would have known. We wanted to extend our appreciation for the kindness you have shown Torey and us. We know you have given a lot of time to the players and kept them focused and taught them skills that they will use in the near future. Your guidance and teachings will not go unforgotten. Thank you for all you have given Torey in the past two years she is slowly coming to the realization she is moving forward in a big way and it was all started with your perservance and words of " I will hold a spot for you." We had a great second year with all of you in Las Vegas and I truly enjoyed being part of the wedding. If ever you are in Viking please give us a call or even if you are passing through. I will push the coaches at Viking to consider having a camp here and we will be here to support you on it.

Again with our thanks and appreciation,

Karen and Glen Hill
